Dr. Forkuo challenges Mahama’s plan to scrap double-track system

Dr. Solomon Forkuo has openly challenged President John Dramani Mahama’s proposed reforms to Ghana’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, warning against the planned abolition of the double-track system.

The Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University argued that scrapping the system could lead to wasted infrastructure during school breaks.

“It was President Mahama’s aim to remove the double-track system from Free SHS. If it were up to me, the double-track system should be maintained.

“Otherwise, we’ll end up with empty school blocks during vacations, which churches will just use for conventions,” he said during an interview on Wontumi TV’s morning show.

Dr. Forkuo also criticised Mahama’s campaign pledge to build more school blocks and dormitories to address the system’s challenges, describing the move as inconsistent with the former president’s earlier promises.
