EC to brief Parliament on 2024 Elections today

The Electoral Commission (EC) will go before Parliament on Friday, July 19, 2024, to brief the House on preparations for the 2024 General Elections.

The meeting, which is set to take place in the chamber, is in response to members’ requests to assess the electoral management body’s preparedness for the 2024 elections.

Andrew Asiamah Amoako, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, made the announcement during the proceedings on Thursday, July 18.

“We will be meeting with the Electoral Commission; they will be here at our request, and we have invited them to brief us on the progress they have made toward the 2024 elections.”

“If you have any issue relating to the EC, just come and ask, it’s not going to be a banter, we’re going to respectfully enquire about what they are doing. So, let’s prepare and come and meet them,” the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament said.

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, to elect its presidential and parliamentary candidates.
