ECG announces power cuts in parts of Ghana for maintenance works

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a two-day schedule of planned maintenance works across multiple regions, which will lead to temporary power outages on Tuesday, May 6, and Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
The company says the exercise is aimed at enhancing the quality and reliability of electricity supply, and has advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to plan accordingly.
On Tuesday, May 6, the maintenance will affect parts of the Ashanti, Greater Accra, and Tema regions.
In the Ashanti Region, power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Anwomaso, Bebre, Fomesua, Domeabra, Apromase, Krapa, Ejisu, Kokobra, and surrounding communities.
In the Greater Accra Region, affected areas between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. include Dodowa town, Forest Hotel, Mensah Bar, Saasabi, Bawaleshi, Oyibi, Teshie Ultimate, Teshie First Junction, Yomo Specs, and nearby locations.
In the Tema Region, power will be cut between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in Man Trucks, Compu Ghana, Ataa Adama, Latter Day Saints, Methodist Junction, Kpoo Keke, Best Western Premier Hotel, Community 21, and parts of East Legon Hills.
On Wednesday, May 7, the maintenance continues in the Eastern, Volta, and Tema regions.
In the Eastern Region, ECG will cut supply from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Adonteng, Konkonuru town, Agyeinanti, Ayim, Adinkrabi, Brekusu, Refresh Factory, Regimanuel Estate, Marteyman, Teiman, and nearby areas.
In the Volta Region, Sogakope Township, Adidome, parts of Akatsi, and sections of Keta and adjoining communities will experience outages from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Residents of the Tema Region will again experience outages on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Lebanon Zone 3, Zenu, Atadeka, Ahorlukope, Sokpoekope, Afrikape, Mataheko, and their surroundings.
The ECG has apologized for the inconvenience the exercise may cause, stating, “ECG regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise” and reaffirmed that the maintenance works are necessary to ensure stable and improved power supply in the long term.
