ECG to cut power for maintenance in Ofankor, Apremdo, Kwesimintsim, and Other areas on April 29

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled maintenance works in parts of the Greater Accra and Western Regions on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, as part of efforts to improve electricity service delivery.

In a notice issued, ECG stated that the maintenance in the Greater Accra Region will take place between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Affected areas include Mensvic Hotel, Lancet Medical Laboratory, Ghana Link, Franko Estate, Ofankor, and surrounding communities.

In the Western Region, maintenance will occur between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, impacting communities such as Agona, Dupaul, Apremdo, Whindo, Kwesimintsim, Assakae, Mpatado, Adientem, and nearby areas.

ECG expressed regret over the inconvenience and appealed to customers for their patience, stressing that the exercise is essential to strengthen and improve the reliability of the power distribution network.

The company noted that aside from the planned maintenance, recent rainstorms and stormy winds have caused widespread power outages in some areas. These adverse weather conditions have led to incidents such as fallen trees, ripped roofs, and collapsed billboards damaging electrical conductors.

While outages caused by transient tripping are usually restored shortly after storms pass, ECG explained that faults resulting in permanent damage to conductors and feeders take a longer time to fix. Engineers are actively working to rectify all faults.

Customers have been urged to promptly report any fallen or sagging conductors and localized outages. Reports can be made via the ECG Call Center on 0302-611611, at the nearest ECG office, or through the company’s social media handles at @ECGghOfficial on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

“We are working tirelessly to strengthen and maintain a robust distribution network,” ECG assured, adding that their team remains committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all customers.

Customers are encouraged to remain alert, cooperate with ECG staff during maintenance operations, and stay updated through the company’s official communication platforms.
