Education Minister pledges Mahama’s commitment to improve quality at all levels

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu has pledged President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to improve the quality of education at all levels and prepare Ghanaian students for the opportunities ahead.

The Minister said this after engaging with the leadership of the National Union of Ghana Dtsudnet (NUGS) in Accra on Monday, February 24.

The conversation centered on improving education in Ghana and deepening relations among stakeholders in the education sector.

It is recalled that during his vetting, Haruna Iddrisu said that the Mahama administration will prioritise access, quality and relevance in tertiary education.

To improve access, he said, the government will focus on expanding infrastructure.

Answering during his vetting in Parliament on Monday, January 20, he said “Access, quality and relevance will be our focus in tertiary education.”

Regarding science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, the Tamale South lawmaker said “We intend to build a model STEM schools in every region.”

On the free senior high school, he assured that President John Dramani Mahama would not cancel the programme.

“He will rather review it,” he said.

Mr Iddrisu also stated that “we will give true meaning to free compulsory and universal education.”
