Elections are won at the polls, not through false claims – GRASAG executives fire back

The newly elected National Executives of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) have strongly refuted claims of an annulment of the recent election results, calling it a baseless and desperate attempt to subvert the will of delegates.
In a statement, they dismissed a document dated March 14, 2025, purportedly signed by one Sumaila Hussein Shaibu, who falsely claims to be the Chairman of the National GRASAG Judicial Council.
“Let it be clear that Sumaila Hussein Shaibu does not hold this position and lacks the locus standi but has illegally assumed such authority to create disaffection and tarnish the reputation of the newly elected national executives,” they stated.
They accused Shaibu of acting out of personal interest, highlighting his open support for the losing candidates. “He is a known supporter and campaigner of the purported petitioners, further exposing the biased intent behind this scheme,” the statement read.
The executives urged all graduate students to disregard the so-called judicial council and its “self-motivated, baseless report.
“They emphasized that the election was conducted fairly, and the results were validly declared by the Electoral Commission.
“Elections are won at the polling station, not through false claims and desperate attempts to subvert the will of the delegates,” they affirmed.
