Energy Ministry denies claims of nationwide blackout on July 13

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has firmly dismissed circulating reports that Ghana is set to experience a nationwide blackout on Sunday, July 13.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Wednesday, July 9, a spokesperson from the Ministry labeled the reports as entirely false and a misrepresentation of recent official statements.
“I have seen some misreporting from some media houses that there will be a nationwide blackout.
“That is not what the Minister said. That is inaccurate; that is falsehood,” the spokesperson stated.
The Ministry emphasized that no such announcement was made by the Minister and urged the public to disregard any media stories suggesting otherwise.
The clarification comes after some online platforms and social media users claimed that the government had warned of a total power shutdown this weekend—a development that sparked concern among the public and businesses alike.
