Enlisting into Ghana Armed Forces will be merit-based and transparent

Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, has assured the parliamentary select committee on Defence that enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces will be merit-based and not for sale.
He made this known when he met with the select committee on Defence and interior.
Dr Omane Boamah is of the view that enlisting persons for the Armed Forces must be transparent and fair to allow Ghanaians interested in the forces the opportunity.
Making the meeting and the outcome known in a post shared via social media, Dr Omane Boamah indicated that “I emphasized that enlistment and recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces will be strictly merit-based, and not for sale. We are committed to transparency and fairness in our recruitment process”
A position that was backed by the committee, led by James Agalga.
“The Committee expressed their support for the Ministry’s work and assured us of Parliament’s commitment to advocating and providing the necessary support towards maintaining national security”.
He used the opportunity to drive home the need for the Ghana Armed Forces to be provided with equipment to effectively respond to emerging threats particularly in volatile areas
