Even if I die today, my soul will be satisfied

Veteran music producer and sound engineer Fred Kyei Mensah has expressed deep gratitude after receiving what he describes as the first formal recognition of his four-decade career in Ghana’s creative industry.

In a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGh, the celebrated producer revealed that the honor came from a “budding award scheme powered by The Elite Entertainment Award,” which acknowledged his contributions to talent development and industry growth.

“After helping a lot to build their brands for the past 40 years in the Creative Industry in Ghana, it took the initiative of a budding Award Scheme … to yesterday honor me as a great contributor and helping young talents to discover themselves. This is the FIRST ever recognition in my LIFE by an award organization,” he wrote.

According to Fredyma, the moment stirred emotions he had long held in, prompting him to stress the need for society to celebrate individuals while they are alive.

“To be honest, I was emotional during my acceptance speech and reiterated the need for society to reward good deeds.

“Our society only eulogizes people after their demise by writing and saying all sorts of lies just to embellish the occasion,” he added.

Using symbolism to describe the span and impact of his work, he noted that his legacy has extended far beyond his own studio walls.

“If you juxtapose my life in the Creative Industry to that of a tree, my branches have spread in all directions and yielded good fruits. I am grateful for this honor.

“Even if I die today, my soul will be satisfied that at least, I didn’t work in vain and that some people recognized my efforts. Ab3 bi b3wu a, na 3so (The palm tree is never fruitless).”

Fredyma ended his message with a nod to the many who have supported him along the way, writing; “More laurels ahead. Thanks to all who have contributed to my journey so far. Good beads don’t rattle.”
