Even in death, I’ll respect Kufuor and Aliu Mahama – Saddique Boniface affirms

Former Minister and ex-Madina MP, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, has emphasized that his decision to join Alan Kyerematen’s United Party does not erase his loyalty and respect for former President John Agyekum Kufour.
Speaking on Hot Issues on TV3 monitored by MyNewsGh, Boniface explained that although he parted ways with the NPP, he still holds deep admiration for the former president, under whom he served in several ministerial roles.
“Kufuor saw the potential in me and unearthed it. Even in death, I will still respect Kufuor and the late Aliu Mahama,” he said.
Boniface noted that his exit from the NPP was not born out of bitterness but out of principle and conviction.
He accused the party’s leadership of handling internal disagreements with intolerance. “Leadership must use tact and wisdom, not anger. When there’s conflict, you resolve it through dialogue, not punishment,” he stated.
He revealed that he followed Alan Kyerematen out of the NPP because he believed the party had lost its transparency and fairness during the flagbearer selection process.
“When Alan said he could no longer continue because of the lack of transparency, we stood by him. Nobody spoke to him or tried to resolve the issue,” he recounted.
Despite his departure, Boniface said he remains at peace. “I’m not pained or bitter. I’ve paid my dues to mother Ghana, and I will continue to serve with the same dedication under this new movement,” he affirmed.
