Everyone found it unmissable – Socrate Safo reveals how he clashed with Kwasi Aboagye for 19-years

Socrate Safo says the magic of Kwasi Aboagye’s radio career lay not in agreement, but in sustained, unapologetic conflict.
Reacting to Aboagye’s exit from Peace FM and radio broadcasting in a post sighted by MyNewsGh, Safo described their 19-year on-air relationship as one built almost entirely on disagreement.
According to him, the clashes were predictable, deliberate, and central to the appeal of Entertainment Review.
“Every Thursday and Saturday, Akwesi would raise an issue for discussion, and I would hold a view that irritated him deeply,” Safo wrote. “It was the high point of the show.”
He recalled frequent interruptions, dismissals, and moments where his microphone time was abruptly cut short, incidents that became familiar to loyal listeners. The tension, he said, created appointment radio.
“Some listeners found it entertaining. Others found it irritating. Everyone found it unmissable,” he stated.
Safo said the public reaction confirmed the impact of their exchanges. Strangers often stopped him to question Aboagye’s on-air treatment of him, while others praised his arguments even when they were left unfinished.
“All of this told me one thing,” Safo noted. “Whatever madness we were creating for nineteen years, we were doing it exceedingly well.”
With Aboagye now stepping away from radio, Safo suggested that Ghanaian entertainment broadcasting has lost one of its most effective drivers of debate and audience engagement.
