Ewurabena Aubynn to be sworn in as Ablekuma North MP today

Ewurabena Aubynn will officially be sworn in today, July 22, 2025, as Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North.

The brief ceremony, expected during Parliament’s sitting, will be led by Speaker Alban Bagbin and witnessed by party officials and MPs.

Her induction follows a narrow win in the recent parliamentary rerun, where she polled 34,090 votes against the NPP’s Akua Afriyie, who garnered 33,881.

The rerun became necessary after the Electoral Commission nullified the December 2024 results due to irregularities and invalid pink sheets from 19 polling stations.

Aubynn’s entry into Parliament gives the National Democratic Congress a two-thirds majority, enhancing its control over legislative processes and key national decisions.

Her victory is seen as a major boost to the NDC’s parliamentary strength heading into a critical phase of governance.
