Exclusive Photos of the Akwatia DVLA Office to be Commissioned by Mahama

MyNewsGh.com has exclusive photos and videos of the new office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office to be commissioned by President John Dramani Mahama today August 31, 2025

The new office brings about relief to drivers and vehicle owners who had to drive all the way to Oda to renew their licenses, since that is where the closest DVLA office to Akwatia is.

When the MyNewsGh.com reporter visited the facility, it was being set up for commissioning tomorrow.

We were allowed to film the outside of the building but could not enter, as work was still ongoing.

The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is expected to commission the office on Monday, September 1, 2025, and ensure that work commences at the facility.

Some drivers who spoke to MyNewsGh.com commended the decision to open an office in Akwatia as it will reduce their burden with vehicle registration and renewal of the licenses.

“This comes as a relief to us. I always had to travel to Oda for the renewal of my documents. Because of the distance I have to travel to get things done, most drivers have problems with the law all the time because they find it a chore to travel all the way to renew their documents, so this is a great initiative,” Kwame Jackitey, who is a taxi driver, told MyNewsGh.com reporter Fred Addo Bempong in Akwatia.
