Execution rumors false, Otumfuo wants incident-free burial – Senior Linguist

A senior linguist of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has addressed and dismissed rumors suggesting that individuals who violate the night curfew during the burial of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, would face execution.

Speaking on Opemsuo Radio, the official broadcast of the Manhyia Palace, the linguist emphasized the law-abiding nature of the palace and the importance of public safety.

“We have restricted outdoor movement. We don’t kill humans. We are law-abiding,” he stated, seeking to calm concerns over the curfew.

The senior linguist also explained the rationale behind the restrictions, highlighting the potential risks associated with traditional rituals.

“We don’t want anyone to bring calamity on themselves because the executioners will be leading the procession to the designated points.

“When the executioners take in ritual drinks, they get possessed by the spirit. They might hurt someone,” he said.

He further assured the public that the Asantehene has taken measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

“Otumfuo has engaged them to avoid such a thing. We want an incident-free burial for the Queen,” he added.
