The Ministry of Education will from next week begin stakeholder discussions on reviewing of challenges in the education sector.

The discussions will focus on education financing and bridging the infrastructure gap as well as the role of teachers in transforming education for a sustainable future.

Chairman of the education planning and review committee, Professor George Oduro, said this while addressing the media in Accra on February 14.

He explained that the discussants will also consider how government will raise the needed funding for dealing with infrastructure gap in the education sector.

Prof Oduro said, other areas to be touched on will be, improving on teachers’ welfare and the involvement of parents in the management of schools.

“The welfare of the teacher sits across all the pillars and that is why in the NDC manifesto, we have what is called “Teacher DABRE” to provide accommodation for teachers, so infrastructure for teachers’ welfare is there,” he assured.

He indicated that quality control in the education sector will be thoroughly discussed.

“We will also look at quality control and also the second pillar will be quality education, we expect that stakeholders will engage within the context of our basic education, our secondary education, tertiary education, TVET and issues like inclusivity that is cutting across,” Prof Odurao explained.

He promised that the teacher will be adequately equipped to implement the recommendations from the forum.
