The King and Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Bi-kunuto Jewu Soale I, together with his chiefs and subjects, will on Sunday, August 24, 2025, host the final funeral rites of the late Sandape-Wura Buwulonso I, Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna, at the Astro Turf Park in Damongo.

Alhaji Muniru, who carried both political influence and the revered traditional title of Sandape-Wura Buwulonso I, tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
He was one of eight people who perished when the aircraft, carrying high-profile government officials, went down while en route to Obuasi. Among the victims were the Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; NDC Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong; and former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye. The crew on board, including Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, also did not survive the crash.
The funeral invitation, issued under the authority of the Yagbonwura, calls on the Gonja people, political leaders, and the nation at large to gather in Damongo to honor the memory of Alhaji Muniru.
His passing has been described as not only a personal loss to the Gonja Kingdom but also a national tragedy, given his distinguished service in both traditional and political spheres.
He is remembered as a leader whose values and dedication to justice and fairness earned him deep respect across the country.
