Finance Minister meets World Bank President to boost Ghana’s development agenda

Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has revealed that he held a “productive meeting” with the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, focused on accelerating Ghana’s growth through key development partnerships.

“Yesterday, I held a productive meeting with the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga,” Dr. Forson announced in a statement shared on his official social media platforms.

According to him, the discussions centered on both ongoing World Bank–supported projects and new initiatives designed to strengthen Ghana’s economic transformation.

“Our discussions centred on both ongoing World Bank–supported projects and new initiatives that will further accelerate Ghana’s growth and transformation,” he stated.

Dr. Forson highlighted five key priority sectors identified during the meeting as essential to Ghana’s development agenda — education, health, energy, roads, and agriculture.

“Together, we identified five strategic priority sectors where enhanced support will make the greatest impact: Education, Health, Energy, Roads, and Agriculture,” he noted.

The Finance Minister was accompanied by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, and Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith.

“Together, we are committed to forging stronger partnerships that will deliver tangible benefits for our people and accelerate Ghana’s journey toward inclusive and sustainable development,” Dr. Forson affirmed.
