Finance Minister to present mid-year budget review today

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, PhD, is expected to present the mid-year budget review to Parliament today, July 24, 2025.

The Mid-Year Budget Review is also in line with Section 28 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which mandates the Minister of Finance to update Parliament on the execution of the national budget and provide an outlook for the rest of the fiscal year.

He is expected in Parliament by 10 am to present the review of Ghana’s budget as the country’s constitution stipulates.

Before this day, the minister had been spotted in market centres and on the streets soliciting feedback after managing Ghana’s economy for six months.

In a post shared via social media he said “At my vetting, I made a firm commitment to the Ghanaian people: to stabilise the exchange rate, reduce inflation, and create jobs.

These were not mere words—they were promises backed by action.Soon after, I stepped out of the meeting rooms and into the markets—to hear firsthand how the cedi’s depreciation was affecting livelihoods.

I listened, I took note, and I acted. In the 2025 Budget, I laid out a clear roadmap—concrete measures to restore economic stability and rebuild confidence.

Now, as we approach the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review, I return to you, the people, to reflect on the journey so far—and to ask: are we making the needed impact so far?”.

What’s Expected

The minister is expected to brief the people of Ghana on how the government has managed the economy for the past 6 months.

He will also outline proposed amendments or adjustments to fiscal plans in light of the current economic situation.
