Fire ravages NDC office in Talensi; cause under investigation

Flames ripped through parts of the Talensi constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region in the early hours of Saturday, April 5, 2025, leaving a trail of destruction, according to a report by Asaase Radio.

The fire, which started around 2:30 A.M., gutted significant sections of the building, including the main reception area.

Party documents, files, plastic chairs, and other vital materials were consumed by the blaze, though firefighters managed to save some equipment, including desktop computers positioned in other rooms.

While the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, the cause of the fire remains unclear.

“We do not know what caused the fire. We are aware that some individuals are already speculating, but we will leave the investigation to the appropriate authorities to determine the actual cause,” said Michael Nangena, the NDC’s constituency communication officer, in an interview with Asaase News.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to douse the flames and secure the area. Investigations are expected to commence to determine what sparked the inferno.
