Former Nigerian President Buhari is dead

Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has died at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness.
He passed away in London, where he had been receiving medical care, according to a statement from the Nigerian presidency.
Buhari, a former military ruler, served as Nigeria’s democratic president from 2015 to 2023.
His tenure was marked by an aggressive anti-corruption stance and efforts to combat Boko Haram insurgents, though his administration also faced economic challenges and public criticism.
Notably, Buhari made history in 2015 by becoming the first opposition candidate to unseat an incumbent president in Nigeria.
