Fredrick Amissah leads new NLA board, tasked with driving innovation and accountability

A newly constituted seven-member Governing Board of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) was inaugurated on Monday, May 19, 2025, with a renewed mandate to drive innovation, increase revenue, and tackle illegal lottery operations head-on.
The board is chaired by Fredrick Amissah, with members including the Director-General of the NLA, Mohammed Abdul-Salam; Edward Abrowkwah from the Ministry of Finance; Doreen Panyin Annan of the Interior Ministry; Solicitor-General Helen Akpene Awo Ziwu; Presidential nominee Gerald Baffour Awuah Bonsu; and Hon. Faustina Elipklim Akurugu, Member of Parliament.
Speaking on behalf of Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Deputy Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem administered the oaths and charged the new board to reposition the NLA as a high-performing, digitally advanced, and development-focused institution.
He emphasised the need for bold reforms, improved digital services, and a decisive clampdown on illegal lottery activities.
“The NLA must go beyond being a revenue-generating body. It should play a central role in national development by supporting key public projects,” Mr Ampem said.
Fredrick Amissah, responding on behalf of the board, thanked President Akufo-Addo and the Finance Ministry for the opportunity to serve, pledging to lead with transparency, accountability, and practical innovation.
He outlined the board’s vision to grow revenue across both traditional and digital lottery platforms while strengthening regulation and systems to make lottery participation more secure and accessible.
