Frimpong Boateng’s Report on Galamsey Does Not Exist—Kow Essuman

Legal Counsel for the former President of Ghana, Kow Essuman, states that what was presented as the Prof. Frimpong Boateng report was not a report.
According to him, the president sought Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s expertise on how best to deal with the menace, which he put his presidency at risk for.
Prof. Frimpong Boateng then put together his ideas on how best to deal with illegal mining, known popularly as galamsey, and presented them to the president.
However, the ideas presented to the president mysteriously found its way to the public, which became known as Frimpong Boateng’s report.
Kow Essuman was speaking on Accra-based Starr FM in an interview with Bola Ray when he made this known.
“What was out there as a Frimpong Boateng Report was really no report. If my memory serves me right, he wrote down what he thought were some of the ways we can deal with galamsey and he handed it over to the presidency at the time.
And that…I don’t know how…So Bola, you have a conversation with me and I say let me know what your thoughts are on this matter,” and you put it down and send it to me, and at the end of the day it comes out….”.
When probed further by Bola Ray that he insisted there was no report, Kow Essuman retorted, “Did you see a letter of commissioning? The document you saw, was it a report? When we talk about a report, was it a report? It was his idea,, and you can’t take that away from him because he was in the thick of things and had an idea of what needed to be done,, and so he gave his ideas, and that was it.”
