GACL says sorry for locked door incident

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has rendered an unreserved apology to passengers who were inconvenienced at the domestic arrival terminal of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Monday, April 7, 2025.

According to a press release signed by Management and dated April 7, the situation occurred when passengers arriving on Passion Air flight 143 from Kumasi at 07:56 am were unable to access the arrival hall due to a locked door at the main arrival gate of Terminal 2.

“It has come to the attention of Management of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) that on Monday, 7th April 2025, passengers who had arrived on Passion Air flight 143 from Kumasi at 0756hrs were unable to access the arrival hall due to a locked door at the main arrival gate of Terminal 2, Kotoka International Airport (KIA),” the statement read.

Management expressed regret for the situation, assuring passengers and the general public that the matter is under thorough investigation.

“Management of GACL extends sincere apologies to passengers who experienced the operational hitch on arrival at KIA,” the company stated.

The GACL also confirmed that corrective steps are being taken, including potential disciplinary actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“The cause of the hitch is being investigated by Management following which measures including necessary disciplinary action will be meted out to ensure such incidents do not recur,” it added.
