Galamsey Fight: We will talk less and let our action speak

Dr Omane Boamah, who heads the Defence Ministry, says the current government has shown its commitment to fighting illegal mining.
He emphasized that they would rather focus on delivering on their mandate rather than just be known for talk shops.
Dr Omane Boamah who made this position known in a Facebook post indicated that unlike the New Patriotic Party government that relented on the fight against illegal mining, the current government is committed to ensuring that the country’s water bodies and forests are kept safe.
“The NPP government’s withdrawal of military force from anti-galamsey operations is a cardinal sin against humanity. The good news is, under the directive of President John Dramani Mahama the soldiers are back to fight galamsey.
We have saved 7 forest reserves so far. We will talk less and let action speak! We’re also using the Chasis numbers of the vehicles being used for galamsey to trace the true owners of such deadly environmentally unfriendly equipment,” he said.
The fight against galamsey has taken a great twist after the change of government.
Reports are rife that after the NDC took over, persons affiliated to the political party have decided to join illegal mining in the country and are desecrating the country’s forests.
