Galamsey is govt’s biggest headache

Former Member of Parliament for Adentan, Kojo Adu Asare, has described illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, as the most pressing challenge confronting the government today.

“Galamsey is the biggest headache of the government now, and there are no two ways about it,” he stressed, while revealing that strategies such as permanent military deployment and the introduction of water guards are currently being considered.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Adu Asare expressed concern about the uncertainty surrounding the effectiveness of these interventions.

“From the little I know, I wonder what methods will be employed. We are trying several methods and I hope we find a lasting solution,” he said.
