Gender Ministry condemns viral assault on woman

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has condemned a viral video showing a man, reported to be a landlord, violently assaulting a woman believed to be his wife.
In a statement issued on November 17, the Ministry described the act as “barbaric,” stressing that “no individual has the right to subject another person to any form of abuse under any circumstances.” It added: “This act infringes on the victims’ rights, and it’s highly punishable by law.”
According to the Ministry, the sector Minister has contacted the Ghana Police Service to ensure a thorough investigation. “We encourage eyewitnesses with vital information to assist law enforcement agencies immediately,” the statement said.
The Ministry urged the public to report incidents of domestic and sexual violence as early as possible and reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant institutions to ensure that offenders face the full rigours of the law.
