GES dismisses reports of Teacher Kwadwo’s reinstatement

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has refuted reports circulating in sections of the media claiming that popular comedian and educator, Mr. Michael Owusu Afriyie, widely known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated into the Service.
In a statement issued by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the Service clarified that the reports are false and should be disregarded.
“The attention of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to reports circulating in sections of the media suggesting that Mr. Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated into the Service.
The Ghana Education Service wishes to state that the report is false. Mr. Owusu Afriyie has not been reinstated,” the statement read.
The GES, however, noted that Teacher Kwadwo has the right to formally challenge his 2021 dismissal if he believes it was unjust.
“However, if Mr. Owusu Afriyie believes that his dismissal, which happened in 2021, is contestable, he is encouraged to submit a formal petition in writing for due consideration,” the statement added.
The Service urged the general public to disregard the false reports and rely on verified information from official sources.
“The public is hereby advised to disregard the false reports. Thank you,” the statement concluded.
