GES orders Dzodze-Penyi SHS headmaster to step aside over sexual misconduct

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Mr. Joshua Vidzro, to step aside with immediate effect following allegations of sexual misconduct involving some female students.

In a letter dated 6th December 2025, the Regional Directorate of Education in the Volta Region said the directive was necessary to “guarantee the integrity of the investigative process.”

According to the letter, GES stated that the allegations “require urgent investigation,” hence Mr. Vidzro must temporarily cease performing his official duties.

“You are hereby instructed to forthwith, formally hand over all official duties, responsibilities, records, and any property of the Dzodze-Penyi SHS presently under your custody,” the letter stated.

Mr. Vidzro has also been ordered to vacate the school premises from Monday, 8th December 2025 after completing the handover.

The Service further warned him to avoid “any form of direct or indirect contact with the female students concerned and any potential witnesses.”

GES stressed that the directive “does not constitute a determination or presumption of guilt,” describing it as an administrative measure aimed at protecting due process.

The Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been asked to take over the administration and management of the school until further notice.
