GES secures financial clearance for 6,249 newly recruited teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has received financial clearance from the government for the payment of salaries of 6,249 teachers who were recruited in 2024 but had not yet been placed on the payroll.

In a statement dated October 16, 2025, and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, GES said the approval will allow it to complete all necessary processes to ensure the affected teachers receive their outstanding salaries.

“The Ghana Education Service (GES) announces that financial clearance has been granted for the payment of salaries of the remaining six thousand two hundred and forty-nine (6,249) teachers recruited in 2024,” the statement read.

It further explained that the clearance, which expires on December 31, 2025, gives GES ample time to finalize the payroll arrangements. “Management of GES will ensure that all staff are placed on the mechanised payroll in time for November 2025 payments,” it added.

The GES also expressed gratitude to staff for their patience and dedication throughout the delay, assuring them of its continued commitment to ensuring prompt and accurate salary payments.

“Management thanks all staff for their dedication and remains committed to facilitating timely and accurate salary payments,” the release concluded.
