Ghana Armwrestling Federation congratulates GIS Boss

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) paid a courtesy visit to Comptroller-General Samuel Basintale Amadu of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) on May 20, 2025, to congratulate him on his appointment and reaffirm their strong partnership.

GAF President Charles Osei Asibey praised the GIS for its continuous support since 2016, highlighting notable contributions such as national team captain Edward Asamoah and world-renowned referee Nii Otoo Larkyne—both products of the GIS.

He also credited the Service for playing a role in Ghana’s impressive 41-medal achievement at the 2023 Africa Games, urging even greater investment in sports to further enhance the Service’s public image.

In response, Comptroller-General Amadu acknowledged the GIS’s rich sports legacy and pledged to revamp its sports teams.

He also expressed appreciation to the GAF for their longstanding collaboration.

To symbolise the enduring partnership, the Federation presented a medal of honour to the GIS boss.

The meeting saw the presence of key figures including GAF Vice President Dr. Kofi Addo Agyekum, Berekum West MP Dickson Kyere Duah, and GAF members Husseini Akueteh Addy, Godfrey Amarteifio, Prosper Ashiquaye, and Phillipina Frimpong, along with senior officers from the GIS.
