Ghana braces for scorching heat and evening thunderstorms

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMET) has released its 24-hour impact-based weather forecast, cautioning the public to prepare for high temperatures and potential late-day thunderstorms across parts of the country.
According to the forecast, minimum temperatures will range from 23°C in coastal and transitional areas to 25°C in the northern regions.
Maximum temperatures are expected to soar, with the northern sector hitting a sweltering 39°C, making it the hottest area nationwide.
Other sectors will see highs of 33°C to 35°C.
Early Wednesday morning is expected to be mostly cloudy with mist patches developing over forested, mountainous, and some coastal areas.
The mist may reduce visibility in affected zones, prompting GMET to advise caution for motorists and early commuters.
By afternoon, most parts of the country will experience sunny conditions with periodic clouds, particularly in the forest and transition zones.
The northern region, however, is forecasted to remain predominantly sunny and dry.
As evening approaches, GMET warns of possible thunderstorms, with or without rain, across the northern and transition belts.
Isolated storms are also likely in the middle belt and along the western coast. These conditions could lead to localized flooding or travel disruptions.
While the overall risk level remains low, GMET urges the public to stay informed, especially in vulnerable areas.
Residents are advised to remain hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and take precautions during evening storms.
