Ghana to experience thunderstorms, sunny intervals on May 14

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMET) has issued the 24-hour weather forecast for Wednesday, May 14, 2025, predicting a mix of partly cloudy weather, sunny conditions, and isolated thunderstorms across the country.

According to GMET, residents in the southern half of Ghana should expect partly cloudy weather during the morning, with areas experiencing mist or fog patches in some locations. As the day progresses, sunny conditions are expected to dominate the country, with occasional cloud cover.

However, the forecast warns that by the late afternoon and evening, isolated to scattered thunderstorms—with or without rain—are likely to affect areas from the coastline to the northern regions.

Cities across the country are expected to experience the following weather conditions:

  • Aflao: Partly cloudy in the morning, sunny by afternoon, and partly cloudy by evening. Morning temperature: 27°C, afternoon: 32°C, evening: 28°C.
  • Accra: Partly cloudy in the morning, sunny with intervals in the afternoon, and cloudy by evening. Morning temperature: 25°C, afternoon: 32°C, evening: 28°C.
  • Kumasi: Misty in the morning, sunny intervals in the afternoon, and thunderstorms with rain by evening. Morning temperature: 25°C, afternoon: 34°C, evening: 28°C.
  • Takoradi: Misty in the morning, thunderstorms expected in the afternoon, with cloudy weather in the evening. Morning temperature: 23°C, afternoon: 32°C, evening: 27°C.
  • Tamale: Thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening, with sunny weather in between. Morning temperature: 27°C, afternoon: 37°C, evening: 29°C.
  • Bole: Thunderstorms expected throughout the day, with sunny conditions in between. Morning temperature: 25°C, afternoon: 35°C, evening: 28°C.
  • Wa: Thunderstorms expected in the morning and afternoon, with sunny conditions by evening. Morning temperature: 25°C, afternoon: 36°C, evening: 28°C.

GMET also warned of rough seas along the coastline, advising coastal communities to exercise caution when venturing into the water.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the weather throughout the day, especially those in the northern and coastal regions where thunderstorms are expected to cause disruptions.
