Ghana Tourism Authority spreads love on Valentine’s Day with chocolate gifts to hospitalised children

In a heartwarming gesture to mark Valentine’s Day, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has distributed chocolates and cocoa products to children at St. Joseph and Koforidua Central Hospitals.
The initiative, which is part of the GTA’s efforts to promote chocolate consumption, aims to show love and support to children receiving medical care.
“This year, our focus is on the children to show them love as they seek medical care and heal,” said Dinah Adu-Owusu, the Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority. Our theme for this year is ‘Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy, and Grow,’ and today’s exercise aligns perfectly with that theme.”
A variety of chocolates and cocoa-based products were given to children, as well as their mothers, who were either in the hospital wards or visiting the outpatient department (OPD).
The children’s faces lit up with smiles as they received the sweet treats, with many expressing joy at the unexpected surprise.
Mothers were equally appreciative of the gesture. “We are grateful to the GTA and the Eastern Regional Minister for showing love to our children today. May God bless them for their kindness,” one mother expressed.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Akosua Adjei Awatey, who was part of the chocolates sharing consoled the mothers and Children.
“I pray for the swift recovery of all the children here. Next year, I hope that by this time, you’ll all be home and celebrating Valentine’s Day with your families,” she remarked.
She further acknowledged the need to complete the stalled Regional Hospital project, particularly for children’s care, noting that the old hospital’s rooms were somewhat cramped.
“I am hopeful that the stalled regional hospital project will be completed soon, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, to provide more spacious and comfortable rooms for the children,” she added.
