Ghanaian leaders are not determined and committed to fight corruption— Asiedu Nketia

The chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia, has questioned Ghana’s commitment to the fight against corruption.

He believes that the country is not determined to fight the canker that hinders the development of the country.

To the man popularly called General Mosquito, the country has all the laws to fight corruption, but the bigger problem is the determination and commitment at the leadership level to fight it.

Asiedu Nketia, who was speaking at the African Governance and Anti-Corruption Summit held at the University of Ghana on June 25, 2025, intimated that until decisions are made in the fight against corruption, the country will continue dancing around the canker.

“I think that if we are determined to fight corruption, we will get somewhere, but I don’t see Ghana determined to fight corruption. I don’t think that we do not have laws that will help us fight corruption, but the bigger problem is our determination and our commitment at the leadership level to fight corruption. I think that is the major deficit in our fight against corruption,” he stated.

“We all pretend to be fighting corruption, but we are actually not committed to fighting corruption. Everybody talks about the ills of corruption and the need to fight corruption but the decisions they have to take in the fight against corruption are lacking,” he remarked.
