Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, Abena Osei Asare, has indicated that the current government is governing with deception.
She says the John Dramani Mahama government came to power by lying their way into power, but within a few months, the people of Ghana have come to realize they were deceived.
The former deputy minister, who was speaking at the Akwatia constituency campaign launch on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, indicated that there is a need for the people of Akwatia to support the party to win back the seat to strengthen their numbers in parliament and better expose the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“It’s been six months in office, and the people of Ghana have realised that the NDC deceived them. They are governing with deception, and we need to expose their lies. We can be better placed by winning the Akwatia seat to expose their deception. We don’t want our number to reduce from 88 so please go out and vote for the NPP,” she said at the campaign launch.
She continued, “people are here who didn’t vote in the 2024 elections because they were angry; there are people who didn’t vote because they are at loggerheads with someone, but I plead with you guys to go out and vote. Let’s take everyone along so that we can win the seat because Ghanaians have hope in us and believe that we can better their lot”.
The former Minister of State further indicated that a win for the New Patriotic Party in Akwatia is a win for the late Ernest Kumi, who sacrificed to bring the seat back to the NPP.
“Let’s vote for Asumadu to honour Ernest Kumi. He did so well and was growing in Parliament before his demise. It was refreshing to listen to him speak in Parliament, so if we don’t have anything to honour him, let’s honour him with our votes,” she appealed.
