Ghana’s democracy thrives on clarity and simplicity in communication – Lawyer

Renowned private legal practitioner Samson Lardy Anyenini has emphasised that effective communication is essential to deepening Ghana’s democratic journey.

Speaking at CoMSSAFest 2025 at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW)  under the theme “The Role of Effective Communication in Deepening Our Democracy,” he stressed that communication is not merely an academic subject but a critical pillar of the country’s democracy.

“I know as communicators, I would do the wrong thing if I attempted to teach you what effective communication is about,” he said, noting that participants were already well-versed in the field.

He defined effective communication as the process of delivering a message in a way that ensures it not only reaches the intended recipient but is also clearly understood. “It certainly must be simple. There must be clarity so that it can be received,” he explained.

Mr. Anyenini further described the topic as “not only timely but profoundly significant to our national journey as a democratic republic,” stressing that clarity in the transmission of information between leaders and citizens is vital for building trust, accountability, and stronger democratic institutions.

The seminar was part of week-long activities put together by the Communication and Media Studies Students Association (CoMSSA) of the School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS) at the University of Education, Winneba. (UEW)
