Ghana’s Military to undergo retooling and modernization drive next year

Deputy Defence Minister Brogya Genfi has announced the government’s plan to retool the Ghana Armed Forces in 2026.

He made this known when he joined Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyepong, the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, senior officers both serving and retired and gallant men and women of the Ghana Armed Forces at the Bundase Training Camp for the 2025 Land Combat Power Demonstration.

He assured the Military of the President’s support in modernising the Army.

“I reiterated the commitment of the Commander-in-Chief, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, that the Ghana Armed Forces shall undergo a retooling and modernization drive beginning next year, the likes of which has never been witnessed in our history,” he said in a Facebook post.

Brogya Genfi used the opportunity to remind the military that “discipline remains the soul of the military. Every soldier and officer must uphold the highest standards of conduct and protect the image of our revered Armed Forces”.
