His most significant romantic relationship was with Sergio Galeotti, his business partner, whom he met in 1966 .
Their personal and professional partnership was the foundation of the Armani empire until Galeotti’s death from an AIDS-related illness in 1985, a loss from which Armani stated “a part of me died”.
Later in life, Armani shared his home with his longtime head of menswear, Pantaleo “Leo” Dell’Orco, though the precise nature of their relationship remained privately discreet .
