GMet warns of storms, strong winds, and possible flooding in Northern Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather update warning of moderate to heavy thunderstorms and rain currently affecting the northern and transition belts of the country.
According to the agency, the rainstorm, previously forecast in an earlier alert, is now active and expected to continue through the morning and into the early afternoon.
It will likely induce cloudiness across parts of the coastal and middle belts, with possible thunderstorms or rain in those areas as well.
The forest zone is expected to experience a few instances of mist and fog patches, while the broader weather pattern indicates rising concern in the north.
GMet also cautioned that moderate to strong winds are likely to affect parts of the northern sector, and localised flooding could occur in vulnerable areas.
The agency is urging the public, especially those in affected regions, to take all necessary precautions.
Temperature Outlook by Sector:
- Coastal areas: 24°C – 33°C
- Forest zone: 24°C – 34°C
- Transition belt: 23°C – 33°C
- Northern sector: 25°C – 35°C
GMet is closely monitoring the situation and is expected to provide further updates as the weather system develops.
