Go learn from him – Adongo tells Bawumia to take notes from Finance Minister

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has launched a scathing critique of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, suggesting he should be in hiding over the economic woes his administration caused.

Speaking on GHOne TV’s State of Affairs monitored by MyNewsGH, Adongo ridiculed the Vice President’s role in Ghana’s recent economic turmoil, arguing that the current Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, had achieved more in under three months than Dr. Bawumia managed in years.

“In any serious country, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should be in hiding,” Adongo said.

“The disgrace you have given to this country… to find this young man [the current Finance Minister] to fix the mess in less than three months—you should be calling for a tea break with him to learn how this was done.”

He described Dr. Adam’s handling of Ghana’s economic rebound, particularly with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as exceptional, contrasting it with what he called Bawumia’s “empty knowledge” and poor track record.

“You won’t go and learn—you are still out there bragging,” he said, accusing the Vice President of failing to take responsibility for his part in the crisis and refusing to acknowledge the achievements of his successor.

Adongo claimed Ghana’s recent engagements with the IMF had left a strong impression internationally, elevating the country’s reputation as a “shining star.”

“Every room we enter, everybody wants to listen to us… People are asking: how did you do this?” he said, adding that Ghana’s progress has been compared favorably with countries like Sri Lanka and Pakistan, which are also recovering from economic challenges.

He admitted Sri Lanka had a good recovery story but quickly added, “We have a better story.”
