Godfred Dame should get a Roman Father and confess – Tameklo

Acting CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has levelled a searing criticism at Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, accusing him of masterminding a calculated attempt to imprison Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints monitored by MyNewsGh, Tameklo said, “I’ve always maintained that in good conscience, Godfred Dame, if he’s a Catholic, should get a Roman father and possibly do a confession and ask for forgiveness of sin.”
He alleged that Dame constructed a deliberate legal scheme aimed at jailing Ato Forson regardless of the facts or merits of the case.
“You don’t know the conspiracy that Godfred built to put Ato Forson in jail at all costs. It’s a painful episode, and that should never happen again,” he declared.
Tameklo took issue with what he viewed as a politicization of the justice system and underscored that legal representation should be impartial and guided by ethical codes, not political bias.
“Look, I don’t care whether you are NDC or NPP. Look, per our rules of engagement, we are supposed to provide representation to anybody, provided it does not offend the rules. That is our calling,” he emphasized.
He drew a sharp distinction between legitimate prosecution and political persecution, stating, “That is why we say that prosecution is a public service. It is different from persecution.”
For Tameklo, what transpired in the handling of Dr. Forson’s case crossed the line from due process into something more sinister.
“If it is only prosecution, and the prosecutor’s code of conduct is that don’t do anything to secure conviction at all costs. Because you are providing a public service,” he said.
He concluded by stressing the moral responsibility of legal practitioners, especially prosecutors: “Follow the ethical rules, present your case, and let the judge decide what you want.”
