Government launches Accra Reset Secretariat to shape Africa’s future

Government has officially launched the Accra Reset Secretariat, a strategic initiative aimed at shaping the continent’s future and positioning the country as a leader in African progress.
According to Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Presidential Adviser and Special Aide, the initiative reflects a broader global trend.
“For years, we have witnessed incredible global progress driven by regional blocs across the world, from the European Union to the G20 and the World Economic Forum,” she said.
“Even closer to home, Africa has seen the rise of institutions such as the African Union, ECOWAS and BRICS, all shaping global and continental agendas.”
The Accra Reset Secretariat is described as the brainchild of President John Dramani Mahama and has received strong support from former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Mogtari highlighted its timely relevance, stating, “In the aftermath of the pandemic and the unprecedented crises that have challenged our continent, this initiative could not be more timely.”
She explained that the vision behind the Accra Reset is to bring together forward-thinking leaders to develop practical solutions for Africa’s complex challenges.
“President Mahama’s vision for the Accra Reset is to create a modern African platform that brings together a select group of forward-thinking leaders to plan for the continent’s future.
“It seeks to ensure that future generations inherit a well-defined roadmap for progress, prosperity and stability,” Mogtari said.
The initiative, hosted in the country, will focus on planning, proposing, and developing homegrown solutions.
Mogtari emphasized the Government’s pivotal role, saying, “Indeed, a new chapter is beginning, one where Africa takes charge of its destiny. And our Government is at the forefront.”
