Former Presidential Staffer who is also a private legal practitioner, Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeini has criticised the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for issuing a wanted poster for former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
He accused the OSP of abusing and misapplying the law.
“Ken Ofori-Atta isn’t a suspect at law. He has neither been arrested nor charged for any offence. The OSP is abusing and misapplying the law,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday, February 17.
Also making a similar comment, the former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, condemned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for the way and manner he is pursuing the former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Ofosu Nkansah says it is wrong for the OSP to use a national office to chase after Mr Ofori-Atta when he is collaborating with the office.
“You don’t use a National office for this when the person is collaborating with your office through his lawyers and you haven’t provided any evidence to the contrary that he is not at the said US Hospital. Should he leave the procedure he is undergoing and come and die? This is really shameful and all well-meaning Ghanaians must condemn this,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday while reacting to the OSP’s action of releasing a wanted poster for former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
Ken Ofori-Atta is wanted by the OSP for cases being investigated including the loss reduction contract between ECG and Beijing Jao, procurement over National Cathedral, contracts awarded by the Health Ministry to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances and the SML-GRA deal.
In a Facebook post on Monday, February 17, 2025, OSP urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ofori-Atta to alert the OSP.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive and placed him on its wanted list.
Kissi Agyebeng stated that Ofori-Atta had repeatedly refused to honour invitations for questioning regarding ongoing investigations in which he is a suspect.
“Consequently, the OSP declares Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta a wanted person. He is a fugitive from the law,” Agyebeng announced.
The OSP further emphasized that it would take all necessary measures to compel the former minister to appear and answer questions related to the investigations.
