Ken Ofori-Atta sues police officers over raid on his home

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has taken legal action against two police officers, DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah, also known as Sir-Mensah, for leading a raid on his residence in Labone, Accra, on February 11, 2025.
The lawsuit, filed at the General Jurisdiction High Court under suit number GJ/0552/2025, was initiated by Ofori-Atta’s lawyer, Bright Okyere-Adjekum, on March 10, 2025.
The former minister is seeking four key reliefs, including a declaration that the officers’ actions constituted trespass and a violation of his right to privacy.
In addition, Ofori-Atta is demanding damages for trespass, aggravated damages for the breach of his privacy, and a perpetual injunction to prevent the officers, their agents, and assigns from carrying out any further intrusions or similar actions against him. He is also seeking costs associated with the legal proceedings.
The lawsuit follows growing concerns over the conduct of security forces and raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the raid on the former minister’s home.
