Gov’t engaged in Cos 90 with arrest of the boys while big fishes walk

Executive Director for EduWatch, Kofi Asare, is of the view that the government is engaged in a COS 90 work in the fight against illegal mining.
According to him, the constant raids, arrests, and prosecutions of the “boys” will not put an end to the menace.
He is of the view that if the government means business, they should rather focus on getting the big fishes behind these young men.
This, he believes, will help arrest the situation rather than the usual arrest of young people who do not have the financial muscle to fund such operations.
“Galamsay is Terrorism. Without cutting fund flow for buying expensive excavators, arrests and prosecution of the boys only amounts to mopping water on the floor while the tap is on. The gov’t must trace, arrest & prosecute the big fishes, else..Cos 90,” he said in a post shared via social media.
In recent times, the government has engaged in raids in several forest reserves and water bodies; however, there seems to be no end in sight.
The recent raids are those in Samreboi, where over 47 illegal miners have been arrested and transported to Accra to face the law.
