Gov’t suspends military recruitment exercise following deaths, injuries

The government has announced a temporary suspension of its ongoing recruitment exercise in the Greater Region, citing administrative reviews and procedural concerns.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Regional Coordinating Council said the pause was necessary to “ensure transparency and compliance with established guidelines.”

“We have received reports of irregularities in parts of the recruitment process,” a spokesperson for the Council stated. “As a result, the exercise will be halted until a full audit and verification are completed.”

The Council emphasized that the suspension was not a cancellation. “We want to assure all applicants that their submissions remain valid,” the statement continued. “This measure is simply to maintain integrity and fairness.”

Meanwhile, some applicants expressed disappointment over the decision.

“I was hoping to complete my application this week,” said one candidate who preferred to remain anonymous. “It’s frustrating, but I understand if they’re doing it to make things right.”
