In a heartbreaking update to the Gurugu accident involving a newly married couple, MyNewsGh.com can now confirm that the husband, who was initially thought to have survived, has died.
The couple had just celebrated their wedding over the weekend and were returning to their new home in Gurugu in the early hours of Monday, June 23, 2025, when tragedy struck.
They were hit by an unregistered vehicle believed to be occupied by Nigerian nationals. The incident occurred shortly after midnight.
The wife died instantly at the scene, according to eyewitnesses.
The husband, however, was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital with the hope of survival. Sadly, he was confirmed dead later that afternoon.
The vehicle involved reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash, and the suspects have not been apprehended.
The bodies of the couple were deposited at the TTH morgue around 2:50 AM.
Fuseini Safianu Mandeya, who posted about the incident on Facebook, wrote:
“The wife died at the spot, according to eyewitnesses. Reports say the husband was confirmed dead this afternoon too.”
