First Lady urges public to prioritise health checks

First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has highlighted the critical importance of early testing and health awareness during a free public health screening initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable communities.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Mahama stressed that many people unknowingly live with underlying health conditions, making early detection essential.
“Sometimes, people are living with these conditions and do not even know it. That is why today’s health screening is very important,” she explained.
The comprehensive screening program, which offered free medical check-ups, was designed to help individuals understand their health status and take proactive steps to seek treatment or adopt healthier lifestyles.
Mrs. Mahama emphasized that timely testing not only improves individual outcomes but also helps protect families and communities from preventable complications.
“Early testing saves lives. Knowing your health status early enables you to start treatment early and prevent serious complications. Testing early can also help us to protect our loved ones,” she added.
