Have confidence in me – Bawumia tells Ghanaians as he eyes presidency

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says Ghana can expect a new wave of innovation, investment, and economic opportunity if he is elected president.

Addressing party supporters in Ketu South, he urged Ghanaians to trust in his record as Vice President and his vision for national transformation.

“Have confidence in me. You have seen what I can do as Vice President. If you make me president with the full mandate, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ [foreign investment] to Ghana,” he said.

According to Dr. Bawumia, Ghana’s progress depends on forward-thinking ideas rather than the immediate availability of money.

“It is not the money in your pocket that will transform Ghana. It is the ideas in your head,” he told the gathering.

He cited the mobile money interoperability system as proof of what innovative thinking can achieve.

“If you had MTN, you couldn’t move money to someone with Vodafone or Airtel. You couldn’t move money from your bank account to your MoMo account.

“But I said it was possible for us to do it in Ghana, and we have done it.”

Dr. Bawumia pointed to job creation within the mobile money sector as another milestone under his leadership.

“When we came, MoMo agents were 107,000. Today, they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs,” he stated.

He maintained that his presidency would build on these gains, promising policies aimed at attracting foreign capital, expanding opportunities for the youth, and strengthening Ghana’s position as a hub for digital innovation.
