He did an excellent job — Ablakwa’s emotional tribute to Omane Boamah

Minister for Foreign Affairs and MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has delivered a moving tribute to the late Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, praising his exceptional devotion to family, his intellectual contributions, and his sacrifice for Ghana.
Ablakwa recalled how Dr. Omane Boamah’s dedication to raising his children was so extraordinary that friends jokingly questioned why he paid the same school fees as “absentee daddies.” His deliberate planning, time management, and unwavering commitment to family, Ablakwa believed, were shaped by the tragic loss of his father while in medical school. Sadly, history would repeat itself with Boamah’s own untimely passing.
“I can proudly confirm, having spent long hours with his amazing family, particularly in these difficult moments, that he really did an excellent job,” Ablakwa said.
Before his passing, Dr. Omane Boamah was working on two books — one celebrating the life of the late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills and another chronicling his own political journey and close working relationship with President John Dramani Mahama. Ablakwa appealed for their posthumous publication as a fitting honour to his memory.
In closing, the minister expressed eternal gratitude to his late friend, vowing that the sacrifices of Dr. Omane Boamah and the other seven victims of the August 6 helicopter crash would not be in vain. He called for united support for President Mahama’s environmental justice agenda, the cause for which the eight martyrs gave their lives.
“Rest well, all you martyrs of August 6. Ghana and the world shall never ever forget your sacrifice,” he concluded.
